Pilotage paid during the same period. Original manuscript in-fol., on
the official Britannia paper. Bound in parchment. 244 numb. pages. 450 —
Containing, from p. 1 to 216, a list of payments made to captains, steersmen and
mariners for the capture of foreign ships, viz. Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch,
Danish and North American. Among the names of ships are to be noted:
Bastia, Calvi, Spartana y Assunta, Del Carmen, Santa Cruz, Lady Waltenhoffe,
L’Alceste, Saldania, Adriana, Rochelle, El Thetis, Santa Brigida, Graf Bern-
storff, Minerve, La Fortunee, Rochellaise, Determine, Surveillant, L’Autour,
Courayeux, Junon, Ville de Paris, Maria Gertruda, Hirondelle, Jupiter, Don
Francisco Xavier, Maria Louisa, Virginie, Nemesis, Moselle, Vrouw Charlotte,
Stadt Altona, Smucka piga, N. S. de la Providencia, Fair American, Neptunus,
Prince Frederick, St. Joseph, Sta. Sabina, Little Mary, Columbia, Estrella
del mar, El Fenice, L’Ardito, Sta. Teresa, Jonge Marcus, Sophie, Felicidad,
Marsouin, Vrientschap, Trinidad, Flor de Mondego, New York, Belle Anne
etc. Several payments were made for captures some years ago: Nile, Cadiz
1798, etc. Most of the vessels captured seem to have been private ships of
merchants, fishers etc., sometimes there are mentioned „Dutch Fishing Vessels,
Greenland Ships, Spaniards“. The sums paid amount from the 1 sh. 6 d. to
several hundred pounds. — Jas. Chandler, captain of the „Brilliant“, received,
in June 1802, £ 1122.13. — The last pages (219 to 244) include a list of pilo-
tages. paid on men of war of the British navy, during the years 1800 to 1805.
All the entries are made by the same well legible hand. They have, at the
beginning of each line, numbers quoting pages of another register. Manuscript
in good condition.

Vorliegendes Ms. enthält nur Abschriften von Drucken u. Zeitungsartikeln aus dem
Jahre 1814. Die Originale dürften wohl alle sehr selten sein.. Es handelt sich
bei allen um die damals schwebende Frage, die auch den Wiener Kongreß
beschäftigte, ob Murat Neapel behalten oder ob es an Ferdinand IV. zurück-
gegeben werden solle.
