The Royal Wedding

est daughter of Kajah
and Hani Chtmi Dorji of
Kalimpong was held on
the 5tb October at Paro

The bridal party left
Ha estate on the* 4th
October and were given
a cordial reception near
Paro by representatives
of His Highness tin-
Maharaja of Bhutan and
other high dignitaries.
BhutattMe dancers and a
Nepalese land who had
travelled to Paro from the
frontier for this special
occaMi n were also in
attendance. The colourful
procession then .'iitered
the Quest Route where
an exchange of ceremonial
scarfs was made, hundreds
of Bhutan, so lined the
route
At 8 a. in on the fit fa
October, an auspicious
hour selected for the cere-
mony by ast mlogers, the
bride and bridegroom rude
to Paro l>zong where they
were met by Her Highness
the Malinrani nf Bhutan.
The bride was outstanding,
dressed in brocades, with
a gold scarf, jewels, and
diamond car-rings. The
corcmoin was held in the

confirmation of the above
has been made by the
Gorkhs League In is also

workers of the Darjeeling
district are not very much
satisfied over the nomi-
nation of Congress candi-
dates, as announced by the
Secretary, W. It. P. C. C.
Chapel. A large number
of presents were on dis-
play from Tibet, Ithutan
and Sikkim.
Guests were attti rtain-
ed for a week by I'hu-
tanese dancers, while
among the men, keen
competition was shown in
archery, the national sport
of Bhutan. On 7th Octo-
ber six thousand villagers
were fed and given pre-
sents of money and cloth.

The fourth sitting
of China • Bharat-Samskriti
was held at the Town
Hall hero on 13th inst

Pradhan, was proposed to
the chair.
Many prominent In-
dians, Chinese, Nepalese.
Tibetans, Bhutias anil
other nationalities joined
the meeting. Persons like
Ti. .1. B. Sapkota Mr. G.
Tharchin, Mr, Hsieh (ex-
Ooansel Ceneral of Bom-
bay) Mr. Chang, Mr. <:.
P. Kar Bar.at-law and
many others persons spoke
about the importance of
cultural organisation in
Kalimpong for the hotter
understandings nf different
nationalities like Ind'ais,
Chinese, Xepalese, Tibetans,
Bhutias etc. They also
explained to the public
how necessary such cul-
tural understanding is in
these days of suspicion
and war.
The secretary of
China Bl.arat Samskriti Sri
Saliranjan Sen read his
report in Chinese & in
Hindi. He informed the
public about the activi
ties of their society and
said how they had estab-
lished an Institute for
Sinn-Indian studies and
cultural co-operation at

of this society they were
