NEPALI SOCIAL WORK-
ERS CONFERENCE.

Calcutta Jan, 30.

In a recent repre-
sentative meeting called
by all the Nepali Social
organisations of Calcutta,
a strong commitee with
Sri D. N. Prodhan, B. A.,
as its Secretary. Sri D. B.
Bardewa Sri T. S. Ling-
dam, Sri P B. Rai, as
assistant Secretaries an l
with members selected
from all the above orga-
nisations, has been formed
and it is decided to hold
a Nepali Social Workers’
Conference in Calcutta on
tin* 15th, 16th and 17 th
February 1952.

His Mejesty King
Trivuvvan Bir Bikram Shah
Dev of Nepal is expected
to inaugurate the Con-
ference. Besides this all
the present Ministers of
Nepal, leading artists,
poets, writers and leading
Social leaders from Dar-
jeeling, Nepal, Bombay,
Madras, Delhi, Assam
and Burma have been in-
vited to participate in this
Conference.

TEACHERS’ CONFERENCE

'The 27th Session of
the AH,. Bengal Teachers’
Conference will be held at
Siliguri during the coming
Easter holidays (i. e. on
the 12th and 13th April,
1952). The teachers of
Secondary Schools in the
entire province of West
Bengal as well as many
eminent educationists will

world outside.

The Calcutta project
estimated to cost Rs. 35
lakhs, forms part of the
one Crore scheme sanc-
tioned by the Government
for expansion of [ndia’s
foreign communications
facilities.

Outlining the above
scheme to representative
of the Press, the General
Manager concluded ‘it

jeeling Municipal Election
Rules, published under
Govt, of Bengal Notinca
tion No 427 M., dated,
the 10th March, 1941,
the Deputy Commission* r,
Darjeeling has fixed Mon-
day. the 31st March, 1952,
as the date for holding
the General Election of
the Kalimpong Municipa-
lity, under Section 24(3)
of the Bengal Municipal
Act, 1932 (Bengal Act XV7
of 1932).

This order is made in
supersession of the Deputy
Commissioner's order dated,
the 17th July, 1951, pub
lished under this .Munici-
pality Notification No. 25
of 1951 dated, the 1st
August, 1951.

have been opened at Nor-
beong, Sivitar and Muloo-
tar tea estates as a conse-
quence of tlie proprietor s
failure to supply rations
and wages to the labourers
of these three tea gardens.
