GURKHA DAL

Sri Bharat Shumshere dung Bahadur
Rann on a recent visit to Kalimpong
outlined the aims of the Gurkha Dal
which stood for an independent Nepal
without outside interference and an eco-
— nomy which would include state control
and private enterprise while “exploitation’’
would not bp allowed Any connection
between the Guikha Leauge & the Gurkha
Dal was emphatically and categorically
denied.

This is a clear cat picture, but the Dal's
■litics maintain that it is au organisation inspired
mainly by “A" class Ranas with the object of
rein statin 2 liana control of Nepal all airs* There
is also the suspicion, these critics say, of some
connection between the Gnrklm Dal and Gurkha
League, otherwise how did Rundhir Subha, a
Christian, without any claims on Nepal, become
the President of the Gurkha Da! especially invited
from Kalimpong for his abilities as an organiser,
particularly as Randhit Subba was a leading
figure in the Gurkha League

Tlie affairs of Nepal are complicated and
hearing both sides of the argument only coiTtes
the issue.

In any case, it is high time that n >tiaie-
gicai’iy placed country like Nepal should get its
ulfaii's in order without recurring di-order and
rivalry brt-w,on several parties. A stable govern-
ment representing the pe-ipD i- most ncces-ary
and urgent. l'o>siblv the fortb.e,,ming preside tial
i-h-eti<-us for the Nepali C.'ongrcftS will provid-- a
due f r a‘stable covenumnt which i- badly
