Juno 2:’, 1932
Four Ifiitnnlnmn:
It is easier to suppress the first
desire than to satisfy all that follow it.-
FRANKLIN.
Kalimponr/, June 22, 19a2.
Til 12 CHVI.ON t’NRKST
India has her own worries though they
are minor ones compared to those of the Western
powers. While Pakistan’s unfriendliness has, over
the years, been taken f^r granted, Ceylon’s unfair
treatment of her Indian citizens came as a rude
shock. It is unfoitunate that Shri Dudley Sena-
nayake has so far failed to reconcile the Indian
settlers who felt sore over their exclusion from
th** last oleotions and the subsequent nomination
of an Indian member to the council over the
head of their organisation. The island cannot
hope to enjoy tranquility so long as a section
of the population is being discriminated, even
maltieated. Were this policy to continue the
Indian settlers who are concentrated in the two
northern districts of the island might be impelled
to demand a separate homeland for themselves.
Such a development cannot be ruled out in the
back ground of the irresponsible attempt of some
Ceylonese leaders to stir up anti-Indian feeling.
It would be in the interest of every one concer-
ned if the just grievances of the Indian settlers
were redressed .before long.

ARE THEY IN BOXES ?
The Nepal defence ministry’s unam-
biguous declaration that the total strength
of the Indian military mission in Nopal
to assist in army training and reorganisa-
tion was only 157 including 111 Gurkhas
would certainly expose those foreign
agents who wanted to undermine and
weaken the democratic Government
by indulging in false propaganda. The
Prime Minister of Nepal did well the
other day to warn his country-men
“to mark well those foreign agents who
were raising the bogey of foreign inter-
vention in Nepal to create anarchy”.
Said he: “If thousands of Indian troops
have come in Nepal, where are they
posted? Have we put them in boxes?”
