Siliguri, Oct. 8

According to a reliable
source it is learnt that
recently armed police force
was called to disperse a
procession at Bhadrapur
situated in Nepal and 28
miles from here. The pro-
cession was brought out by
the peoplo of Bhadrapur
in protest for not imple-
menting a decision taken
by Bhadrapur Municipality
regarding widening of main
roads, under Municipality
bv SO ft. it is stated that
in practice the decision
of the ‘'municipality was
abandoned when the (jues-
tion ot desmantlmg some
porti iis of the bouses of
tin; Municipal Chairman
and one municipal officer
came for widening the road
upto 30 ft. Armed police
force was said to have
charged the pro*css'onists
with the end of rifles
hurts as a result of which
.10 persons were wounded
among whom the injury of
3 persons were reported
serious oik* being admit-
ted in the Jalpaiguri Gene-
ral Hospital. 23 persons
had been arrested and they
were granted bail after a
week after much agitation,
it is learnt. Tin* situation
went grave for some days—
it is said.

101 MDS RICE SEIZED

seized 101 mds. of rice at
Sevoke while it was being
transported* to Dooais
by a 3 toner truck
without any permit. Four
persons haver been arrested
in this connection. The
