Darjeeling, Dee. (i

A meeting of the
labourers of Tukvar Tea
Co. was held at Tukvar
Tea garden on the .1st
Jan. 53 under the Presi-
dentship of Sirdar Daulat
Dass Bokbim. The ma-
nagement of the said Co
has ordered closing down
of Singla Tea Estate from
1st Jan. 53, inspite of the
recommendation of - -the
Tripartite Conference that
there would be no retrench
ment and further closing
down of Tea gardens. The
foil' wing resolution was
passed in the meeting :

“This meeting- of the
labourers 'of Tukvar Tea
Co. resolves that the ra-
tion to be. bought at
I I s. 17 8 - per Md by the
labourers for two months
(Jan. 53 and Feb. 53), la-
bourers to be compensa-
ted for this enhanced price
of ration when financial
aid is received, from the
Govt., working days to be
(j days in a week, no re-
trenchment and no closing
down of gardens — that
the labourers are willing to
buy ration for two months
at -/7/- per seer provided
the management concedes
to the following:—

1. All workers above
the age of 12 years to be
provided with work in
the garden.

2. No recovery of

months.

3 Singla Division1 to
continue functioning with
effect from the 2nd
January 53

4. Adult dependents
to be allowed to buy ra-
tion at landing cost

5. Old aged and inva-
lids to continue free ra-

It was further resolved
that the resolution be put
to effect from the 2nd
Jan.’53. In. the event of
failure on the nart of the
Managem'et. to- give effect
to the above resolution,
the Management shall be
held - responsible for not
. taking action.” 1
