DARJEELING TRADERS ASSOCIATION

Darjeeling March, US

A gpneral meeting of traders and
the general public of Darjeeling was
held on the 12th mst in G. D. N, S.
Hall at A P. M., under the president-
ship- of Shri Ramnath Agarwala. About
300 persons attended the meeting. The
following resolutions were passed unani-
mously :—

1. An Association of the traders
be formed-in the name of “Darjeeling
Traders Association"’.

2. An Executive Committee be
formed with the following persons and
office bearers jto conduct the struggle
of the Traders under the Darjeeling
Municipality‘against the whimsical imposi-
tion of the present Trade-Tax and other
taxes levied herebefore by Darjeeling
Municipality :—

(1) Shri, Rhmnath Aganyala, President.
' (2) ,i Nandaldshore Agarwala, Vice-

President.

(3) ,Rai Sabeb Purnabahadur, Vice-

u - President.

(.4) Shri . Narbu Lama, Secretary &
Treasurer.

(5) „ ‘ Nani Chatterjeej Joint Secretary

(0) ,, G Rrfni, A^stt. Sr cretarv and
19 Member.^ of Working Committee.

’3. This meeting of Traders of all
shades under the jurisdiction of Darjeeling
Municipality strongly protests against
the imposition of new Trade Tax u s
123/182. of the Bengal Municipality Ai t
by Darjeeling Municipality on all the
businessmen and demands its immediate
withdrawal.

4. The copy of this resolution
should bo submitted to the Chairman,
Darjeeling Municipality!

5. The Committee is authorised to
deal in the matter suitably and send

STIPENDS FOR STUDENTS

Under Scheme No. 4 A of the
Services Post War Reconstruction 'Trust
Fund, West Bengal applications in pres-
cribed form are invited from Fx-8ervice-
men (below the tank of J. C O. ) of
Bengal or .serving personnel who were
recruited in Bengal during the World
War II for stipends fur their dependants
reading in schools.

Applications along with the Annual
Mark Sheet duly certified by President
Soldiers’ Sailors’ & Airmen’s Board and
Head Master/.Vlistress of the school in
which the pupil is a student. Should
reach Sri H. 0. Sen. Secretary Services
Post War Reconstruction Trust Fund,
West Bengal, Raj Bliawan, Calcutta, on
or before 30th April 1953. No applica-
tion will be entertlined after that date.

VACCINA DON AND INOCULATION

The Smallpox season is already on
and the Cholera seison is also fast
approaching. It is time that all people
oi the Sia.o whether resident in rural
or urban areas immediately get themsel-
ves vaccinated against Smallpox and
inoculated agamst cholera The industrial
authorities are particularly requested to
see that their workers together with the
members of their families are duly vacci
natt-d and inoculated. The authorities
of the local bodies are likewise reques-
ted to do the same in rtgard to the
