WEST BENGAL GOVERNOR
VISITS PEDONG

II K., Dr. H. C Mookerjee, Governor
of West Bengal visited l’edoug this
morning accompanied by the IDpnty
^Commissioner Darjeeling, B.D.O Kalim-
pong and- other otiieials. On hi- way
ho. inspected some Siri breed bulls and
'cows and also poultry brought by the
local villagers as arranged by the local
Agriculture Department. The Governor
took a keen interest in the study of
cattle breeding in the hills and discussed
with the local officials and public about
its improvement. He also visited the
'Buddhist Monastery at Chumerchen.
At Pedong the Governor was accor
ded a very warm reception by the local
people ai d an address on behalf of the
public of Pedong, Kashyone and Sakyong
Khasmahal blocks was presented.
The Governor in his r plv said that,
every time lie came to Kalimpong lie could
not help visitin' I edong because its beauti-
ful countryside scene bad alwiiy attracted
him. He was glad to see that the people
there were agriculture minded, lie ap-
pealed to every one of them tc produce
more food, more milk and meat so that
they could feed them el well and had
something to spare for their less fortunate
brothers and sisters who needed their
help. Ho appealed to the villagers to
give their whole hearted co-operation to
the officials in their works and thus
build up prosperous future. He said lie
was anxii us to see the people of Darjeeling
prosper day by day.
