Tlie Government of India in the
Ministry of Education have . formed a
Board of Editors to compile the ‘History
of Freedom Movement in India'. At
the request of the Board of Editors,
the Government of West Bengal have
appointed a State .Committee .to assist
this Board' in collection of materials
from West Bengal for this compilation

West Bengal Legislative Council, is the
Chairman of the State Committee. The
following, are tire members -

Nirmal .Bose, Sri Deben Bey M L. A.,

Thomas, and.Sri P. S. Mathur. Director
of Publicity. Dr. S. N, Sen and Dr.

to be members of the State Committee.
The .Board of Editors have decided
, td complete the compilation of the history
■Within three r years. For purposes of
collection Of materials, it has been deci-
ded to broadly divide the compilation
into periods 'representing J857• 8-1, 1S8S-
B)05, ,1)00-17. 101S-21, 1922 23, 192!)-37,
1938-42' and 1943 upto 1947.
Materials such as newspapers reports,
book's, biographies, court ca-e records,
personal statements, eys witness accounts,
con tern pot ary literature, photographs,
published leaflets, posters, booklets, etc.,
or any other material evidence will be
useful to the Editors of this publication,
ft is also proposed)to collect folksongs,
'■ folk music,' reports of movements in
literature, art, drama and similar activi-
ties which directly or indirectly helped
the freedom movement
The Chairman oft lie state Commi-
ttee, therefore, appeals to all concerned,
who ate in the know of such facts or
in the possession of such materials, to
place these at the disposal of the State
Committee for 'election of materials to
be made available to the Board of
Editors Persons in possession of such
materials or thoso who wisli to send
statements etc arc cordially invited to
write to Dr. Soniti Kumar Chatterji,
Assembly Home Ca'eutta.
