‘TIGER OF THE SNOWS’
EXHlBITED-IN DARJEELING

Dr. H. C. Mookerjee
Governor of West Bengal
witnessed a special show
of documentary film enti-
tled “ To Tenzing—Tiger
of the Snows”, produced
by the Publicity Depart-
ment of the West Bengal
Government at the Capitol
Cinema Hall this morning.
He was received on
arrival by Sri D. E. Avar),
proprietor of the Cinema
House and by the Deputy
Commissioner, Darjeeling.
A large number of leading
citizens both officials and
non-officials including im-
portant visitors were also
invited to the show. Sri-
mati Tenzing. wife of
‘Tiger’ .Tenzing along with
her two daughters, was
also present during the
show. Two copies of t'his
films which were received
only yesterday afternoon,
were at once released to
the two local Cinema
houses. The film has crea-
ted an enthusiasm amongst
all classes of people here.
LEPCHA-BHUTIA LAND
Darjeeling, June 8
It is hereby ordered
that henceforth no Lepcha
or Bhutia resident of this
district will transfer any
of his or her land to a
non-Lepcha or a non-
Bhutia resident as the
case'may be without my
prior order in wiiting and
embossed with my court
seal.
Transactions made in
violation of this order
will have ho legal force
and cannot be approved.

rani of Bhutan left Cal-
cutta on Wednesday, June
17, for Switzerland where
they will spend the next
two months for reasons
of health.

Rani . Chuni Dorjee of
Kalimpong parents of the
Maharani of Bhutan are
already in Switzerland.

Visual Unit under the
Government Publicity De-
partment, Darjeeling gave
22 Cinema-shows in May
last at diff-rent centres
of the district which in-
cluded Tea gardens, Cin-
chona Plantation and
Khasmahal areas etc.
Thousands of. ^ labourers
and people from interior
areas attended the shows.
