STRONG MILITARY
BASE IN TIBET
Kathmandu, June 10 .

The Chinese have built
military barracks on the
Nepal-Tibetan border at
Kaerong, according to the
Japanese expedition which
recently made an „.un-
snccesful attempt on Ga-
nesh Hiatal. ,/*'■''

Mr. Murayama, a mem-
ber of the expedition, said
that while they were at
22 000 feet on the peak,
they spotted barracks
though he did not see
any troops.

Karlier reports here said
that the Chinese have built
a road running parallel
to the Himalayas on
Tibet's southern border.
They have also construc-
ted air strips to accomo-
date war planes.

The steady arrival in
Lhasa during the past five
years of heavy machinery'
from China strengthens
the belief that the Chinese
will convert Tibet into a
strong military base for
themselves.

tion ' Signal Corps, V. S.
Army"

The Nepalese Prime Mi-
nister and Home Minister
inspected the sets.

posed to make a protest
