1 am not speaking to you
at length, as I feel that will

hear what the members of the
Council, whose experience and
knowledge of Sikkim must ne-
cessarily be. widor and fuller
than mine, have to say than
th.it you should have to listen
to me.- But although I have
not known Sikkim for as
long as the membors of this
Council, Sikkim is for me by
no means a new or passing
passion. For I was caught by
her spell over a decade ago,
when first I roamed _ through
her hills and come to know
her loveliness. I am glad of
the opportunity given to me
now to serve tbe State and
strengthen my association with
her people. And I should count
it the greater honour and pri-
vilege that you should
regard me not so much as Dewan
of Sikkim, with the pride and
paraphernalia that may be at-
