THE LORD OF TAMSANG

(Continuecl from page 8)

where the Lepcha army,
in. revenge for the mis-
ohief whioh the Bhutanese
had. done in their country,
committed great cruelties.
There he did not keep
himself idle, but built a
fort named "Panok Gri",*
whioh probably may be
"Punakha", the present
capital of Bhutan, and
pat a strong garrison.

After this crushing
defeat, the Bhutanese king
sent massengers to Gaebu
Achook, to establish peace
and treaty. Gaebu Ach-
ook accepted it and they
decided to make the treaty,
at "Daling Gri". Peace
was established and a

treaty was made, fixing
the permanent boundary
line of both the Kingdoms,
in between 'Daling Gri'
and 'Panok Gri'. The
Lepchas in the meantime
arrange a great feast and
when they had eaten and
drunk plentifully, they lay
down to sleep, keeping no
guard jor watch, as th«y
did not suspect any enemy,
in the vicinity. Meanwhile
th* treacherous Bhutanese
who were present there
as friends and honoured
guests, thought it a good
chance, and made plan to
kill Gaebu Achook and
took revenge. Two of the
strongest Bhutanese sol-
diers were deputed to
finish this job. As twilight
came in and then night;

the moon shone clear,
and bright, and then they
two went out to finish
the job, but surprisingly
they could not find out
Gaebu Achook among the
lying group of long tired
and heavily drunk Lep-
cha soldiers. So they bri-
bed a ha.f conscious drunk
Lepcha soldier to point
out or let them know
where he was lying. So
in his drunkenness, the
villian Lepcha soldier bet-
rayed his Lord to the
Bhuiaoet-e saying that "he
is lying among them in
ordinary dress like other
soldiers, but he who bore
three "Numbong Pano Ong
Fo's, rich Sand beautiful
plumes iis our Lord".
