Homage was paid to
Lokuian'ya Tilak by the
citizens of Kalimpong at
a public mooting held
under the auspicious of
Mondal Congress Commit-
tee at Town Hall to
celebrate the birthday
centenary of Sri Tilak.

the meeting which was
addressed by several
speakers.

SOCIAL WORK

Kalimpong July 27
The second series of
the sooial work by the
local social service unit
«as undertaken on the
£2nd July. This week
the road linking Pedong
Road and Hospital road
was repaired. The road
was lying in pitiable con-
dition. Now the appea-
rance of the road is com-
pletely changed. As usual
treat enthusiasm - was
noticed among the workers
who worked continuously
for five hours. This week
tli* number of volunteers
was also more then pre-
v iou» occasions. Sri S S.
Verma. Sub-Divisional offi-
cer and Sri D N. Sen,
K M O. also visited the
place.

s MAN RUN OVER
BY TRAIN

Siliguri, July 25
A Nepali was run
over by a town bound
goods train of narrow
gauge line just on the
opposit of North Station
on July 23 while he was
moving with a cow along
the hill cart road. The cow
bound with a rope, it is
reported, suddenly crossed
the. railway line on bea-
ring the whistle of the
engine of the goods train
and the man with the ropo
in the claich of his hand
could not controll his
balance fell down on the
line just before the passing
engine and thereby met
the unfortunate death.
