Rs. 2.505/- FOR FLOOD
RELIEF FOND

The West Bengal
Flood Relief Committee,
Darjeeling Branch, with
Sm. 8 Kazi as president,
has recently collected a
gum of Rs. 2,505/12/9 and
handed over the same to
the Deputy Commissioner
Darjeeling for forwarding
the same to the Chief
Minister's Flood Relief
Fund. The collection re-
presented the efforts of
the A.l. W. C, G. D.'N.
S. Manila Sangha, Bhutia
Association and the local
Gorkha Dukha Niwarak
Sammelan, and included
a donation of Rs. 500/-
from the Gymkhana Club
and Rs. 1405/- being
proceeds of a Charity

tnry of the Kurseong
Branch, N. E. Rly. Maz-
door Union states that
the recent ballot counting
in the Kursenng Btanch
had shown 621 out of the
total number of 631 votes
oasted were in favour of
a strike for redress of
their grievances, 4 were
against and 6. votes were
treated as null and void.
The percentage therefore
in favour of the -proposed
strike was 98.5%.

CONDOLED

resolution expressed great
sorrow at the sudden death
of 1't Ravi Shaokar
Shukla Chief Minister of
Madhya Pradesh, and the
, five persons who were
killed in the Motor acci-
dent of January firBt. In
the same meeting Sri
Chananmul Newar was
taken in the Mondal Cong-
ress Committee to fill up
the place of Late Sri
Suresh Ch. Jain.
ELECTION NEWS
Everywhere the poli-
tical parties have announ-
ced their respective can-
didates for the general
election, but in this dist-
rict no announcement of
their official candidates
has been made for several
i constituencies. In the mean
time the aspirants have
already started their cam-
paign.
BADMINTON TOURNAMENT
Entries are invited
for Badminton Tourna-
ment (Doubles) from mem-
bers and non members.
The Entry fee for mem-
bers is Rs. Two per team
and for Non members Rs.
1 hree only.
Entries should reach
the Game Secretary, Ka-
limpong Club before 19th
January '57.

MEET AT KURSEONG
Kurseong, Jan. 10
A meeting of the
congress workers was held
at Kurseong congress
office on 7th January 57.
The meeting was adressed
by ori T. Wangdi. Sri T.
Man/an, Sri Jagdish
Bhattacharjee all congress
candidates in the ensuing
election. The meeting
deoided to give all co-
operation to these can-
didates.
LAMA'S LIKINGS

ohen Lama are found of
popular modern entertain-
ment. While in New Delhi
the Dalai Lama sew 'All
For Mary? and the Pan-
ohen Lama witnessed 'War
and Peace'. Both enjoyed
the picture. 4!oth the
Lamas went to Russian
Circus too.
