affairs - oalls - for quick
remedial action. To ener-
gise 'Sadaohar' activities
in villagei, is indeed a
sacred duty. Today there
is a great deal of orisis
in character and atmos-
phere is surcharged with
indiscipline and arrogance.
Therefore, it is a problem
to discover the good peo.
' pie in order to promote
these activities so that
their colleotive influence
for potential good, may
penetrate deeper in the
texture of village life.
Three measures ..are there-
fore suggested to pursue
this order: (i) To promote
fair dealing in transac-
tions, (ii) To put an end to
miner quarrels and reduce
litigation as far as possi-
ble, (iii)' To* prevent the
spread of viae,, such as
drinking, gambling smok
ing etc. This problem of
pood behaviour is much
required today in elders
and: tbey need to practice
them more than merely
.taking pleasure by advi-
fing the younger folk to
behave as good citizens.
Unity
In all these publio
works or sooial works
what is most required is
unity. This is again a
question based on trora-
lity. Difference of opinion
is always .there between
, mn 1'iri man. But if
it is taken too far that
gives room to ill-will and
imtr-d*. The highest form

of human^ approach to
problems like disagree,
ments is to agree to dis-
agree and with this idea
things must be set at
rest and proceed to the
field of- action. If man
fills to observe this po

• licy, he. is to be subjec-
ted through force by re-
sorting t*> all types of
disciplinary measures.
Therefore, ,it would be
always good to try to
agree on problems of com-
mon good and be united.
Smaller the units like
villages or distriot, more
the scope for quarrels.
Then it Would be nice
of the people who are in
small units to be obe.

" dient and disciplined for
the sake of the commu-
nity and not to disrupt
or destroy the sooial unity
and solidarity

These are the few
things on which a sooial
worker mutt think aloud
and discuss the view-points,
so that those will serve
as a pointer to other also.
Much depends upon the
potentiality s of the peo-
ple themselves A sooiety
ol tcibals 's tound some-
times much better although
. their backwardness might
make one not to, think of
their sooial life habits
etc. ..But it must be again
a challenge to us and to
our rural and urban bro-
thren that we inherit an
orderly and. disciplined
force of action, deter-

mined and united,' - to
improve the lot of every
.member of the sooiety
and thus prove worthy
of what our ancestors
dreamt of us as worthy
citizens. In this,-this ser-
vice of Lok Karya is
not only that, bnt it is
•Punya Karya' or the
work of God. or in the
words of saints,' service
to ' Darid r a Narayana'
and' therefore every one
must take to Samaj Seva
with a spirit of service.
Then and then alone,
Gandhiji's wish of wiping
every-' -tear from every
eye would be fulfilled and
when he would bless suoh
men of service even from
that unknown heavens.
