The 6th Agricultural,
Industrial and Health
Exhibition at Gorubathan
irai opened by Sri D N.Sen,
Khasmahal Officer, Kalim
pong on 28tb January.
Besides the display of
products of agriculture
and cottage industries by
the local people, stalls
were opened by the Medi-
aal, Veterinary and the
Publicity Departments of
the Government of West
Bengal
Speaking on the occa-
sion Sri . N. B. Gurung,
West Bengal's Deputy
Labour Minister outlined
the objectives of the Deve-
lopment Programme, pro-
visions of the Gram Pan-
chayet Aot, importance of
holding the Exhibitions
and appealed the people to
be self reliant and co-
operative. Sri D. N., Sen,
Sri S. K. Mookerjee. Cap-
tain L. Sharma and Sri
M. R. Rai, also spoke on
the various development
works undertaken in the
district with speoial refe-
rence to Jaldhaka Hydro-
electric Projeot.
The exhibition conti-
nued up to 31st January
when the prizes were dis-
tributed. Folk song and
dances, music competition,
sports, baby Bhow & volley
ball exhibition match were
held during the exhibi-
tion period.
13 ASKED TO QUIT
INDIA

According to official
sources, 23 Chinese and
seven Tibetans in Dar-
jeeling Distriot have been
served with notices of
various kinds. Among .
these, 10 Chinese and
three Tibetans have been
asked to quit Iodia. So
far the Chinese have adop-
ted delaying tactics as
far as the quit India
notices are concerned pre-
ferring prosecution to leav-
ing the country.
ONE KILLED IN CLASH
NEAR SILIGURI
Siliguri, Feb. 2
One person was fa-
tally injured in a clash
between two groups of
people in the Kboribari
tbana area, about 28 miles
from here, on January 29,
according to a report re-
ceived here. The clash >
apparently ensued over
the distribution of paddy.

Two Australian spe-
leogists (cave . explorers)
have exploded the myth'
about a cave beneath the
Mahakal Shrine ' in Ob-
servatory Hill. According
to tradition an underground
tunnel expended lor quite
a few miles from the
spot, even into Nepal and
Tibet. According to the
speleogists—Paul Rose and
Tom Hay ier, members of
the Sydney Stpeleogioal
8ociety—the oave was a
rook fissure which extend-
ed for roughly.60.ft.
Rose'and Hoy lor, who
are- conducting a brief
investigation of limestone
belts in . the Himalayan
foothills to discover if
they contain natural oaves,
•arrived in India last Sep-
tember, t~hey said lime-
stone caves existed in
Kashmir and Kulu valleys,
and the Kumaon Hills,
There were vast limestone
deposits in the Kumaon
Hills, indicating the pre-
sence of a vast natural
oave system which oould
profitably be explored by
future expeditions.

and requested the people
to come forward with
open heart to co operate
in implementing the Deve-
lopment Plans of the
