Proposal Being Examined

A Cabinate sub-com-
mittee is. examining the
financial implioationB of
the recommendations of
the Darjeeliug Inquiry
Committee,, headed by Mr.
Kalipadu Mpokerjee, Home
Minister. One of the com-
mittee's reoommendations
had been recognition of
the hill areas of the dis-
trict as hi lingual. 1 he
State Goveanment will
-write to the President in
a day or two for a direc-
tive nndsr Artiole 347 of
the Constitution that Ne-
pali should also be re-
cognized offioially at one
of the languages of the
hill areas

The committee's other
reoommendations related
to improvement of educa-
tion, health, roads, trans-
port, onttage industries,
dairy and similar other
matters.

NEPAL ORDER ON SIGN
BOARDS
Kathmandu, May 9

The new regime o
Nepal today ordered tha*
all signboards throughout
Nepal must be written in
the Nepali language and
Devnapri Soript.

Any foreigner putting
up signboards must also
use the Nepali language
and the Itovnagri Script
but may also use English
along with them.

features in Nepali; (iii)
knowledge and experience
of translating from Eng-
lish into Nepali, (iv) know-
ledge of make-up of jour-
nals & illustrated pamphlets
and reproduction of illus-
trations and ability to
superviss productions in
the press; (v) at least two
years' experience of sub.
editing in a newspaper
office and thorough know-
ledge in proof reading.
Age.- between 30 and 40
years (relaxable in case
of persons already in Govt,
servioe) Applications stat-
ing name, father's name,
qualification, experience,
present & permanent
accompanied by specimens
of published works,articles
etc. will be reoeived by
the Director of Publicity.
