is a delightful com-
bination of greens and
reds. Herr Liebermann's
exhibits were many,
and the themes of his
pictures extremely varied,
whilst the resources of his
technique were amply
demonstrated. He is
a master of colour,
and his combinations are extremely happy. Of
the members of the Hagenbund, Walter Hampel
showed illustrations for an old German Lied,

A committee, composed of many ot
the most notable of French artists of
the day, has just been formed for the
purpose of raising a statue—or a monu-
ment of some kind—to the memory of
the great landscape painter, Charles
Daubigny. The secretary and treasurer
is M. Georges Wybo, 19, Rue des

\ / bund Exhibition was from
all points of view, material
' included, a successful one.
A great attraction was the collection of
pictures by Max Liebermann, of Berlin,
which filled the large room. His
(shoemaker's work-
shop) was a study in greys lit up
by the light from the high windows
throwing its reflex on the faces of the
workers, men and women. This serves
to bring out their characteristic features,
and the whole is a true study from
life. In 71%^ we had another
such study. In the distance is the
low-country house, in the foreground
the women are busy laying the sheets
on the grass to bleach. There is
