cated gestures which constitute paranatellonta of the decanates of many signs of zodiac.
Naked figure with her right hand up (41 r), paranatellonta of Aquarius, appears in the
Luttrell Psalter and in the French hours from the beginning of the XVth century (Add
29433)45. Half-figure with the hands raised up (43 r, paranatellonta of Leo) appears
in the Rutland Psalter and a naked bald man sitting with his left leg raised up (51 v,
paranatellonta of Pisces) in St. Omer Hours and Mary of Pembroke Breviary 4*. A fre-
quent image is the rooster (Gallina, 45 r), paranatellonta of Gemini, Sagittarius, Capri-
corn and Aquarius 47. A man sitting on a deer (47 r) is an image of a degree of one of the
signs or paranatellonta of Aries or Sagittarius; it can be found in the Queen Mary’
Psalter 48. A squating figure with a finger pointing (47 r, paranatellonta of Pisces) appears
in the Gorleston and Bohun Psalters and Mary of Pembroke Breviary 49. A human
head with a flute in its mouth and a bird sitting on it (50 r, paranatellonta of Gemini)
is found in Latin-French Hours (Stowe 17) so. Dragon and Leo (paranatellonta of Leo)
from the interlinear strip (50 v) appear also in the Taymouth Hours 51. The Great and
Little Bear (Ursa Maior and Minor), paranatellonta of Gemini, Leo and Sagittarius
(50 v) appear in the Queen Mary’s Psalter and Little Bear alone (50 v, paranatellonta
of Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Sagittarius, Aquarius and Pisces) in the Taymouth
Hours 52. Quite frequent is the constellation of Great and Little Dog (Canis Maior and
Minor, 51 r, paranatellonta of Gemini and Cancer)5S. The doves, paranatellonta os
Capricorn (51 r) appear in the Montacute Psalter54. On the interlinear strips of the
Florian Psalter there are also repeated the heads of Leo (51 r, 60 v, paranatellonta of
Sagittarius, Leo and Virgo) which are found in the Gorleston Psalter 55. In the Luttrell
Psalter a line of ducks was painted (51 r, paranatellonta of Gemini, Leo, Sagittarius,
Capricorn and Aquarius) and in Anne of Bohemia Hours three stalking birds (51 v),
paranatellonta of Sagittarius58. Leo and monkey (51 v), paranatellonta of Leo, are
repeated in the Bohun Psalter and in St. Omer Hours 57. Very common is an image of
a peacock (53 v), paranatellonta of Libra 58. In the Queen Mary’s and Bohun Psalters
we find two dragons with their necks interwined (53 v, paranatellonta of Aquarius) 59.
The constellation of Great Dog (Canis Maior), paranatellonta of Taurus, Gemini, Cancer,
Leo, Sagittarius and Aquarius (56 r), appears on the pages of the Rutland Psalter 80.
Several times, among others in the Bohun Psalter, there appears Fox (56 r), para-
natellonta of Scorpio or Libra 61. In the examined manuscripts there appears many times
an image of Orion as a knight with a sword (59 r, paranatellonta of Taurus, Gemini
