MEMORIAL ROOM OF MARTYRDOM, opened in 1966, to
honour the memory of Poles murdered by the Nazis.

The assembling of collections was started in 1949, the Mu-
seum was inaugurated in 1953. The largest collection belongs
to the ethnographic section representing exhibits from the
Beskid Wyspowy region and the Cracow Highlands (on the
river Rawa). They are mainly specimens of folk art and
culture displayed in a reconstructed mountaineer room from
Kasinka Mala (from the first half of the 19th century) and
Cracovian and mountaineers' costumes. The historical section
depicts the history of the Myslenice region. Also, archaeolo-
gical and natural history collections.
The Museum has a branch at Dobrzyce.
XALIjCZOW (Lublin Voivodship, Puiawy County)
THE BOLESLAW PRUS MUSEUM, the Maiachowski Palace.
Open daily except Mondays and days following holidays from
10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; from May to the end of August, on Sundays
and holidays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 3 to 6 p.m.
Initiated by Professor F. Araszkiewicz, a Prus scholar, the
Museum was inaugurated in 1961. It has the character of
a biographical and regional museum, and collects material
pertaining to the life and work of the most distinguished
writer of Polish positivism, Boleslaw Prus (1847—1912), and
especially material pertaining to his connections with Nale-
czow and the region of Lubiin — mementoes, manuscripts,
photographs, books, periodicals and foreign language editions.
The writer's letters to his wife Oktawia Glowacka and all
his letters to Mrs. A. Sacewicz.
THE STEFAN ZEROMSKI MUSEUM, 2 Stefana Zeromskiego
Street. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sundays and
holidays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Group excursions should apply
at *the Museum or at the Information Centre of the Polish
Tourist Association (PTTK), Nalgczow, tel. 141.
The Museum is lodged in Zeromski's study in the so-called
"cottage", a summer house in Zakopane style, which the
writer built in 1905 after the design of architect Jan Kosz-
czyc-Witkiewicz. Zeromski stayed there in the years 1905—
—08 writing Roza (The Rose), Dzieje Grzechu (Story of
a Sin) and other works. It was there that secret meetings in
which Zeromski participated took place in the period of the
1905—06 Revolution. The Museum was opened in 1928, in
the interior preserved with the furnishings from Zeromski's
