Wojciech Marcinkowski, Tomasz Zaucha • An outline of the history.
The catalogue that has been published within the exhibition project only sum-
marizes what we know about the collection by now, which is but an introduction
to further research, highlighting some ambiguous issues or emerging problems.
We expect that an easy access to the collection as well as photographic material
produced for the need of the exhibition will trigger off thorough studies on this part
of the collection of the National Museum in Krakow. Sounding fairly naive these days,
the oldest, l^-century collecting and exhibiting conceptions are confronted here
with modern multimedia technology. Using the intellectual and material achieve-
ments of our predecessors we want at the same time to open a new forward-looking
research perspective.
