1. A Biography of his Father (Sir Evan Nepean,
Governor of Bombay). 9 pp. 4to.
Stating how his father went to America as a midshipman when
the “ American War had already begun to rage with great vio-
lence,” how the Admiral’s secretary died and Evan Nepean
took his place, became purser of the ships at Boston, with a
thousand pounds a year in his pocket at the age of 17. Lord
Shuldam succeeded Sir William Howe as Commander. Upon his
return Evan Nepean became one of the Secretaries of State under
Lord Sydney, North and Mr Dundas. Thence his father entered
the War Office, and after 15 years to the Admiralty. Etc.
2. French Exercises and drafts of Letters and note on the
shooting of Spencer Perceval, together with an A.L.s.
from A. Lackworthy stating that M. H. Nepean is
registered as a Freemason in the All Souls Lodge,
Weymouth, 26 Oct. 1837. 45 pp. 4to. £2, 2s.
