And seppe we moten deie in sore,
For mete haue we no more.’

1 Abid,’ he seide, 1 er pu go !

And, whan pat i hit haue iete,
Off pat bileuep, pu shalt make
For pe and for pi children sake.’
IT pis seli widewe po wel sone
Grarmtede2 wel al his bone :
For his loue, pat him pider sende,
Hire litel mete she wolde spende.

His ei^en he kest to god on heih :
To him he made an orysoun,
And anon god putte his fuisoun
Vp-on hire mele in hire picher
And on hire oyle, pat is cler.
