Here again the protecting deity is Hathor of Àmou. And in this connection
the following point is worth mentioning. At the north end of the site, near the
Delta Light Railwav, the ground is full of large bones belonging to some kind of
cattle. The'sacred animal of the nome, until Grœco-Roman times when Ammon
supplantée! Hathor, was the cow; and the place where the bones are found is
probably an ancient cernetery of the animais considered sacrecl to the gocldess
of the adjoining temple. I know of two other cemeteries of cattle in the same
district, at Ko ni el Adami near Teirieh and at Kom Abou Billou.
