A school-canteen or vulgö tuck-shop lias been
opened this term, and judging from the many pictures
of crowned heads now displayed in the various rooms,
enjoys an extensive patronage. We sincerely trust
that our assumption is correct, as in this case we
shall soon have sufficient money to start, at any rate,
the cricket pavilion, for though we belive this is not
generally known, the profit made in this manner
goes to the Sports fund, instead of as hitherto to
the Neuenheim tradesmen.
We are glad to be able to chronicle one change
in the municipal or rather fiscal arrangements of
Neuenheim, which will interest all Neuenheimers past
and present. The system, by which the Schütz re-
ceives half the line he exacts, is now done away
Avith; the Schützen receive nothing from now on, and
we trust will consequently be less imaginative than
they have been hitherto, though what they will sub-
sist on is a problem, perhaps like the Scilly islanders i
„they will eke out a precarious existence by taking
in each other's washing".
We have to congratulate
E. S. Coke
F. Walker
H. A. Harrington
J. Edwardes
E. Olivier
on passing into Sandhurst, and A. W. Clark, - Kennedy
on passing into Woolwich.
We were especially glad to see J. Edwardes'
name in the list, partly of course because we
consider that the „Head of the School" is bound to
pass, but chieflv because he was a representative
Neuenheimer, at least so we flatter ourselves. We
trust soon to hear of his distinguishing himself in
other ways at Sandhurst.
The following is the honour list for the last
two terms.
