numismatic sources marginally, most freąuently using them only to substantiate
theses proposed in advance. The author of the most recent work about the events of
the civil war in the years 68-69, Gwyn Morgan, regards numismatic sources as not
very useful for studying the period, recognizing however the contribution that numi-
smatists have madę to the study of the events* 6. It is worth noting here that Morgan
is fairly inconsistent in this view, as when assessing the political achievements of
individual rulers he willingly refers to this category of sources7. Perhaps he accep-
ted the view of T. Buttrey, who was rather skeptical about considering numismatic
sources as a reflection of current events.

There is also an enormous number of articles and various contributions regar-
ding individual aspects of the period8. Many of them are based, to a greater or lesser
