The Nymphs discover Califlo'sMisfortune to Diana, and the Goddefs

Adfpicit hanc y'vifamque vocat: clamata re-
fugit,
Et timuit primo, ne Juppiter ejfet in ilia.
Sed pojlquam pariter Njmphas incedere vi-
dit, 44^
Senfit abejfe dolos : numerumque accejjit ad
harum.
Heu quam difficile ejl , crimen nonprodere
*vultu !
Vix oculos attollit bumo: nec,ut ante folebat,
Juntta Deae lateri, nec toto eji agmine prima:
Sed fdeti &'laefi dat jigna rubore pudoris. 450
Et (nifi quodvirgoefi) poterat fenfire Diana
Millenotis culpam. Nymphae fenjijfe feruntur.

Call'd to the Nymph; the Nymph began to fear
A fecond Fraud, a Jo<ve disguis'd in Her;
But, when Ihe faw the Sifter Nymphs, fupprefs'd
Her rifing Fears, and mingled with the reft.
How in the Look does confcious Guilt appearJ
Slowly Hie mov'd, and loiter'd in the Rear-,
Nor lightly tripp'd, nor by the Goddefs ran,
As once flie us'd, the foremoft of the Train.
Her Looks were flulli'd,and fullen was her Mien,)
That fure the Virgin Goddefs (had Ihe been ✓
Aught but a Virgin) muft the Guilt have feen. )
'Tis laid the Nymphs law all, and guefs'd aright:
And now the Moon had nine times loft her Light,
