THE ARGUMENT.
Ceres gives her Chariot to Triptolemus, with Orders to goe every
where and cultivate the Earth: The Prince obeys her, and arrives, at
laft, in Scythia where Lyncus, defigning to kill him, is changed into
a Lynx. The Mufe finishes the Song with the Metamorphofis of the
Pierides into Magpies.

Parent of Seed, ilie gave him fruitful Grain ,
And bid him teach to till and plough the

The Seed to fow, as well in fallow Fields,
As where the Soil, manur'd, a richer Harveft
yields.
The Youth o'er Afta, and o'er Europe drives,
'Till at the Court of Lyncus he arrives.
