The forms of the letters, especially the /*, with
its short right-hand stroke, point to a fairly
early date, say about 500 B.C. 1rjp,a of course
ought to mean tomb-stone, but if the stone was
found in situ this is impossible, as it was dis-
covered in the temenos of the Dioskouroi. But
Mr. Griffith, who received it from the work-
men, tells me it may either have been brought
thither by them, or have been used again in
ancient times for a new purpose, and therefore
