countenance, denoting her to have been about twenty-six years
of age, is seen in a three-quarter view, with her dark hair taste-
fully disposed in curls. She is attired in a rose-coloured silk
robe, the drapery of which is held in front by the left hand, while
the right points to some distant object.

500. Portrait of Sir Peter Paul Rubens, when about
the age of forty-five. His animated and intelligent counte-
nance is seen in nearly a front view, with dark brown hair, long
mustacheos, and short beard. The dress is composed of a black
silk vest with small gold buttons, a plain muslin collar, a black
cloak hanging behind, black hose, silk stockings of the same
colour, and large bows to the shoes; a rich gold chain is sus-
pended over the right shoulder, crossing the front; and a gold
key is tucked in a belt at his side. The figure stands in a
