a little table in the middle, a third stands beyond them, filling
his pipe ; the nearest to the spectator is a jovial fellow, sitting
on a three-legged stool, with a glass in one hand and a pipe in
the other, apparently giving a toast; two others are at the fire,
and a woman is quitting the room at a door on the opposite side.

the nearest of which consists of five persons smoking and drink-
ing ; they are disposed round a tub, which serves as a table,
amongst them, and in front, is an old man with a pipe in one
hand and a large pitcher in the other. The second group,
composed of six boors, is seen in the back of the room, on the
opposite side, playing at cards.
