the picture) in 1647, for M. Van Slingelandt, in whose family it
remained until the year 1785, when it was sold by auction at Dort for

It subsequently became the property of Mr. Crawford, of Rot-
terdam ; and was lastly put up for sale at Mr. Christie’s in 1806, when
it w7as bought in for 1552k, and was afterwards sold to the present
proprietor, the Marquis of Westminster, for somewhat less than
that sum.
38. A Woman with a Fowl in her Hands, standing at the
door of a barn, or cow-house, in front of which lies a pig, and
near it are two cows tied up. Beyond these objects, the eye
looks over the distant country.
