front, falling amongst broken trunks of trees. The scene is
enlivened by peasants and wood-cutters, which are attributed
to the pencil of Adrian Vander Velde.

beautiful study from nature.
Collection of the Countess of Holderness, 1802 ; bought by the
Earl of Breadalbane.
99- A Landscape, with a waterfall in front, and a hill on
the right, clothed with trees; amongst which is seen a chapel.
A tree, of admirable tint and foliage, which is opposed to a
clear sky, stands on the opposite side.

100. A View in Holland, represented under the appearance
of a severe frost and snow. The composition exhibits, on the
left, some cottages on the banks of a canal, on which are several
boats and a number of persons. The fore-ground is varied with
a brick bridge, surrounded by piles, beyond which are two
windmills and a cottage ; and two persons, one of whom appears
to be giving orders to the other, are seen towards the right.
The distances are finely relieved by a cloudy sky.
