whom are occupied with bales of goods. Three boats and
a galley lie alongside the quay, and on the opposite side is
seen an English man of war entering the port, and at the same
time firing a salute. Other similar vessels are perceptible in
the distance.

249- The Companion. A Naval Engagement between the
English and Dutch. The composition is remarkable for two
row-boats, full of sailors of the opposing parties, firing at each
other, and on the left is a ship on fire.

These were painted in the Artist’s latter time.
250. A View on the open Sea, during the effect of a fresh
breeze. Among the several vessels distributed over the scene,
is a ship of war in full sail, scudding majestically along the
centre of the picture.

252. A View off the Coast of Holland, during a fresh
breeze. Among the various objects which give interest to this
beautiful picture, is a yacht sailing into harbour, with a boat
attached to her stern, and on the left is a jetty, on which are
four persons, beyond which are a small sailing boat, and a
frigate riding at anchor, with all her sails furled, and firing
a salute.
Now in the collection of the Earl of Radnor, Longford Castle.

253. Men of War sailing down the Channel, in a fresh
breeze. The principal object in the picture appears to be
a portrait of a seventy-four gun ship, which is passing along
the front under easy sail, with her broadside and richly
