MELVILLE, J. Stark, io
Blythswood Square, Glasgow.
Mr. Melville has been closely associ-
ated with Mr. Oscar Paterson, the well-
known Glasgow artist in stained glass,
in most of his important commissions
of recent years. He has proved him-
self skilful and adept at the new “in-
taglio ” process which Mr. Paterson has
recently perfected, and his assiduity
has contributed largely to its success.
Himself a very able designer and
craftsman, he is entirely in sympathy
with the work of Mr. Paterson, and
has executed some of the latter’s de-
sign with complete success. He is
now engaged on glass work for the s.s.
“ Lusitania,” and a memorial win-
dow for the ist Battalion of the Sea-
forth Highlanders, which is to be

MILNE, Miss Jean, 72 Pembroke Walk,
London.
Miss Milne designs and executes metal and
plasterwork, with figures in relief, for architec-
tural decoration. She has recently completed
a silver chalice for St. Michael’s Church, East
Wickham, Kent; a figure medallion for the
“ Eager Heart’’presentation silver collar, given
by R. I. Fennessy, Esq.; a challenge trophy
(bronze statuette) for the Physical Training
College, Dunfermline, N.B.; and two bronze
statuettes, “The Culprit” and “The Bird of
Joy,” exhibited at the International Society
and the Royal Academy. The modelled panel
reproduced on page 60 represents “ The Wise
Virgins.”

MOORE, Miss Esther M., 4 Bath Road,
Chiswick, London.
Miss Moore is a designer of decorative sculp-
ture of all kinds and a worker in clay, metals,
wood, marble and plaster. Her most recent
work includes a bronze panel, “ At the
Gates of the Past,” exhibited at the Franco-

“keramic” fresco designed and executed by
J. S. MELVILLE FOR OSCAR PATERSON AND CO.
