guished himself), wall-papers and
other mural decoration, tapestries,
textile fabrics, bookbindings, sten-
cils, &c. He founded, with Professor
Hoffman and others, the organisa-
tion known as the “ Wiener Werk-
statte ” to which he has devoted
much energy. Lately he has turned
his attention to theatre decoration
with considerable success. He is
a professor at the Imperial Schools
of Arts and Crafts and a member
of the Klimt group or “Kunst-
schau ” and has arranged some of
the rooms at its exhibitions. The
window designed by him illus-
trated here was executed by
Messrs. Geyling for the church at
Steinhof, near Vienna. Professor
Moser designed the new Austrian

British Exhibition held in London
last year, the Royal Academy and
the Paris Salon ; a group in plas-
ter, “The Merman,” exhibited at
the New Gallery ; a plaster relief,
“ A little Spirit of Dreams,” ex-
hibited at the Royal Academy and
afterwards executed in marble;
and a group in plaster, “Youth’s
Dream of Joy,” exhibited at the
New Gallery. The panel for a music
room illustrated here was also ex-
hibited at the New Gallery, and
at the Walker Art Gallery, Liver-
pool last year.

Professor Moser is one of the
leaders of the modern school of de-
sign in Austria, and his influence
on the decorative work being pro-
duced in that country is consider-
able. He calls himself a designer
of surface ornament; this, however,
includes a wide field—stained glass
