753. Stele. Found in the floor of the
same house. The stone was said to have
been brought from il-Malikiyeh. Height
57 cm., width 33 cm. The letters, which
are deeply cut, are 9^ cm. high and 1
cm. wide.

Philippos, a veteran, held commands, built for himself (this) tomb, died. Hagar,
(daughter) of Akk, his wife, completed (it) with the aid of Hunai, (her) brother.

Our copy agrees with Waddington’s except as to the name in 1. 6. Either name
can be paralleled, if we may suppose that Άοναιω is equivalent to Σονεω. Σονεας occurs
in the genitive in Wad. 2218 and is restored in 2000. Ουοαος is found in M. S. M.
p. 243, no. 12 (cf. Lidzbarski, Eph. 11, p. 327).
756. Block. Found in a wall, near a medafeh. Length 46 cm.; height 2 7τ/3 cm.
The inscription is on a raised dovetailed plate. Height of letters cm.
