Zur Begründung für die Einreihung vorliegenden Druckes unter das Jahr 1489
führt der Brit. Mus. Cat. folgendes aus: ,This is connected with the Synthen: Verba
deponentialia before 10—17 June, 1490 (on the last page of the copy of the Brit.
Mus. is written: ano dni 1490 i ebdomoda corpis xi) by having the same types,
breadth of type-page, and number of lines to a page, and with the two following
tracts (Manuale Parochialium sacerdotum and Breitenbach Clypeus contra jacula
etc.) by bearing, like them, the Signatare I. S., probably that of ‘hanss smidehofer’,
a bookseller, who according to Wustmann, had litigation with Kachelofen in 1498
‘der missalien halben’, and who presumably shared the risk in these and other
books containing the same Initials’.
Vorliegende wahrscheinlich für den Schulgebrauch herausgegebene Sprüchwörter-
sammlung Seneca’s bringt in alphabetischer Reihenfolge über 500 Sentenzen des
grossen römischen Stoikers.

Sehr reizvoll rubriziertes, zu Beginn mit einer schönen grossen in Rot gemalten
Initiale ,A‘ versehenes Exemplar dieser sehr seltenen Leipziger Ausgabe.
Einige unbedeutende Flecken. Auf dem Titelblatt in der Unterecke folgender
handschriftlicher Eintrag: item Character Conradi Gallici, Lips. quo 1487 ibidem
Florum impressit.
