Editions
This page gives access to the editions of selected manuscripts of Gregorius, with notes and variants. Where the link is not active this means that the corresponding edition is not yet finished.
For a beginning we recommend the text of manuscript A. It is the one mainly followed by traditional print editions.
In order to make navigation easier, texts have been divided into 'chapters'. Although we have tried to preserve the narrative units of the texts, our division does not pretend to be a literary assessment.
Edited texts
A – Text of manuscript Cod. Regin. lat. 1354, from the Bibliotheca Vaticana, written probably in the second quarter of the 13th century, with Eastern upper German linguistic characteristics.
B – Text of the Strassburg manuscript A 100, written probably in the 14th century. Western Alemannian. The manuscript was burnt during the bombing of the Strassburg city library in August 1870; our text is based on a copy made by an unknown person in the 18th century.
J – Text of the Berlin manuscript mgq 979, from the first half of the 15th century. Alemannian. One of the very few manuscripts that cointains the complete prologue.
