Project history

Gregorius – digital is a scholarly cooperation between Spain and France, all working together with the Heidelberg University Library. Following a proposal by Peter Andersen (University of Strassburg), scholars of the universities of Santiago de Compostela, Amiens and Clermont-Ferrand agreed to make a joint edition of Gregorius, in the context of the digital edition of Hartmann's works. In the same context, and also in cooperation with the Heidelberg University Library, the digital edition of the Old French Vie du pape saint Grégoire is being prepared; this text was most probably the model for Hartmann's work.

Gregorius – digital began im winter 2022–2023. The transcriptions, the verse-concordance and the variant have been finished in summer 2025, at the same time the editions of the firts two manuscritps (A and B) have gone online. The edition of manuscript J will follow in winter 2025–2026.

Apart from the editors, the following persons have collaborated in the transcriptions and corrections: Saray Díaz Díaz and Rebeca Göthlin (Santiago de Compostela), Peter Andersen (Strassburg), and Chao Li and Esther Wrobel (Heidelberg).

We would like to thank all those who have helped us in the execution of this project.
