Eoeder's Berlin dissertation, Die praeposition r in der Entwickelung
der aegyptischen Sprache, is an elaborate classification of the uses of the
preposition, showing the changes that took place at different periods.
A. H. Gardiner shows that the word commonly translated " electrum "
is to be read zam, not uasem; the verb "to decay," on the other hand,
though sometimes written by false analogy in later texts with final m, is
really tias, A. Z. xli. 73; he explains the late Egyptian word auna as an
emphasizing particle after the negative, ib. 130, and gives instances of the
later absolute pronoun used as a possessive, ib. 135.
Interesting note on the nautical names of the four sides of a ship found
