stützung der Restaurierungsarbeiten ist
die EDV-Anlage zu einem integralen Be-
standteil des Projekts „Piero della Fran-
cesca" geworden.
Abstract
The "Piero della Francesca" project has
since 1985 been concentrating on the
important wallpaintings in the Franciscan
church of San Francesco in Arrezzo. Be-
longing to the early wallpaintings there
are the series of pictures "Leggenda
della Vera Croce" (c. 1452-1466) in the
main chapel. Underthe leadership of
the Italien department for monuments
(Sopraintendenza per i beni ambientali
architettonici artistici e storici/B.A.A.A.S.,
Arezzo), an innovative recording and
documentation System was developed
and successfully employed in the inter-
disciplinary research cooperation while
restoration was being carried out. The
database System, which is based on the
latest DP technology, is optimised for
practical use. It is modular in structure
and capable of processing linked graphic,
text and picture information. It is plan-
ned to introduce it to the Internet in Or-
der to inform international Science of
the project.
