Ces huit médailles choisies parmi la riche collection de
M. Wasset sont précieuses à plus d'un titre. Si l'exécution est
très-remarquable et la conservation intacte, il faut ajouter que
les divers costumes qu'elles nous retracent fidèlement contri-
buent aussi à leur donner de l'intérêt.
Le modelé de ces portraits est d'une vérité et d'une perfection
sans égale; chaque trait des individus représentés est à sa
place, on le voit, et la pose, le caractère, sont parfaitement ob-
servés.
Charles-Quint, à gauche, est reconnaissable surtout par la
saillie de la mâchoire inférieure, qui était, on le sait, une des
particularités de cette physionomie impériale.
Nous remercions M. Wasset de nous avoir permis de montrer
aux lecteurs de l'Art pour tous ces extraits de son admirable
collection.

Thèse eight medals chosen from among M. Wasset's collection
are esteemed precious on more than a score. First their exé-
cution is very remarkable and their conservation intact; then
we must add that the diverse costumes which they truthfully
reproduce give them a novel interest.
The modelling of those portraits has a matchloss truth and
excellence ; each feature of the person represented is finely de-
picted, as may be seen, and the attitude and character are nicely
observed.
Charles the Fifth, at the left, is mainly recognizable by the
projection of his lower javv which was, it is well known, a par-
ticularity of that impérial face.
