Les brassards étaient souvent aux xinc et xiV siècles compo-
sés de lames de fer pour garantir le bras, et articulées aux cou-
des. Les cubitières ou plaques de ronde protègent cette dernière
partie. Les épaulières couvrent le point de jonction de la cui-
rasse aux brassards. Les cuissards protègent le devant de la cuisse
chez les cavaliers et le derrière chez les fantassins. Les grèves
ou bottes de fer enferment la jambe en se joignant aux cuis-
sards. Les solerets sont des lames de fer articulées enveloppant
le dessus du pied.

During the xtn"1 and xivlh centuries rere-braces and vam-
braces composed of plates of iron wero destined to protect the
arm, which at their junction was guarded by the elbow-
piect.
The pauldrons covered the point where the brassards meet the
cuirass.
The shin pièces protected the fore part of the legs of the horse-
men and the hind part of the foot soldiers: leg.
The cuissart protected the thigb and was unitcd to the greave
or shin pièce by the knee-piece. The sollerets or pointed shoes
were composed of either mixed mail and plate armour or éntirely
of plate armour. They covered the upper part of the feet.
