PLAQUES EN CUIVRE ÉMAILLÉ

Les figures de la plaque inférieure, c’est-à-dire le Christ, la
Vierge et saint Jean, sont un peu primitives, mais les ornements
émaillés du fond sont d’un très beau style. La croix est en émail
gris clair, le fond gris bleu, le nimbe rouge. La lune et le
soleil se voient à droite et à gaucho. Les clous fixant le corps
du Christ sur la croix sont figurés conformes au dessin fait sur
l’original même des rivets forgés dans le métal et visibles à
l'envers.
Les deux plaques du haut montrent dos ornements circulaires
séparés par des quatrefeuillcs.

The figures of tbe lower plate, which represent Christ, the
Virgin and S. John are rallier primitive, but the enamel orna-
ments of the ground présent a very fine style. The enamel of
the cross is light grey, tho ground greyish blue, the nimbus
red. The sun and moon are figured on the right and left. Tho
nails holding Christ upon the cross are not only figured as shown
in the above drawing, but also by rivets forged into the métal
and which are visible at the back of tbe plate itself.

ded by quatrefoils.
