PLAT HISPANO-MORESOUE.
Nous montrons ce plat hispano-moresque plutôt pour son étrangeté que pour sa beauté. Le
décor frappe, dès l’abord, plus par sa couleur que par son dessin des {dus élémentaires et
obtenu par une main naïve et peu expérimentée. Comme forme, on remarque trois ressauts
successifs dont l’un peut former une sorte de marli extérieur, qui ne se distingue des autres
compartiments que par trois cercles bordés à l’extrémité et une série d’ornements en forme de
lunes, obtenus, comme le reste, à la pointe du pinceau. Au bout des tiges contournées, on voit
de temps à autre des feuillages et des fruits dont nous ne distinguons ni l’espèce ni môme la
forme.

We exhibit this hispano-moresque dish more for ils strangeness than for its beauty. The
ornamentation strikes at once more by its colouring than its design, which is very elementary
and ovidontly the work of a young and inexperienccd band. As to the form. one remarks threc
successive plans, the outer one forming a kind of rim distinguished from the other comparé
ments by three circlos bordering the outside and a sériés of moon sbaped ornements executed
at the point of the painting brush — at the end of twisted stalks one sees here and there IeaVes
and fruit of which we cannot détermine either the kind or form.
