j^^T^I U C H is the intrinfic Excellency^
^ s ^ as well as Amiablenefs, of the fe-
kOFjL^ ueral Arts, to which thefe Volumes
are an Introdudtion; fo many are the real
and fubjlantial Advantages flowing from
a familiar Acquaintance with them\ and
fo rich a Fund do they afford of the mojl
rational and refined Amufeme?it; as to en-
courage us to hopej that an Attempt to re?i-
der them more diffufively conducive to a?i-
fwer thefe valuable Purpofes will meet with
fuch a candid Reception from the Public,
as the Intention, at leaf, feems to deferve.

we have endeavoured to place every SubjeB
in a Light fo clear and intelligible, that the
Jludious and attentive Reader, we flatter
