A- 6. JUG. Ht. 3i in. From Yortan, as A i, etc.

Globular body with wide cut-away neck and flat loop
handle, decorated with three small knobs set at equal intervals
around the widest part of body. Coarse black polished clay
with a brown patch at lip.

A 7. JUG. Ht."7i in. From Yortan, as A I, etc.

As last, but larger, and with slightly ridged body and
flattened base ; three knobs on shoulder. Good black ware
with smooth polished surface. (Fig. i.)

A 8. JUG. Ht. 73 in. From Yortan, as A i, etc. Handle and part of lip restored.

As A 6, but with flattened base and four knobs on body. Stony brown
clay with remains of bright red polished surface ; a black patch on each side.

A 9. JUG. Ht. 5:! in. From Yortan, as A 1, etc. Lip and handle broken away.

Shape as A 3, with ridged body, and similar red-washed surface, now black in
parts and perished. On the.shoulder are three pairs of very small knobs.

As A 6, but with small flat base, and instead of knobs four moulded
crescents set vertically on body ; grey-brown clay.

Globular body slightly ridged at shoulder and slightly flattened at base.
The cylindrical neck is longer and narrower than in the .preceding examples ; it
is cut away obliquely from front to back, as before, but the lip is pinched in at
the middle and turned out at the top, making a recurved edge. The handle is a
flat loop with sharp edges. On the shoulder are three moulded crescents set
horizontally. Polished black ware with brown patches.

A 12. JUG. Ht. 9:! in. From Yortan, as A 5, etc. The top of the lip is broken away.

As last, but with a pellet below the lip on each side, and another in front at
base of neck. The base is not flattened.

A 13.

JUG. Ht. 6:J in. From Yortan, as A I, e'.c. Top of neck broken
away.

Pear-shaped body, with narrow neck and round base as
before. Above the slightly ridged shoulder are four moulded
crescents set obliquely, and in front are two pellets as if hung
from base of neck. Black polished ware with grey-brown
patch. (Fig 2.)

[The tensile shape of the body occurs also at Troy, 5.5. 1535, but
is more usual in the Cyclades.]
